A Beautiful Spirit

Psalm 5:11-12"let all who put their trust in You be glad.  Let them sing with joy forever.  You make a covering for them, that all who love Your name may be glad in You.  For You will make those happy who do what is right, O Lord.  You will cover them all around with Your favor."  NLV

This time of year I struggle with trying to keep the spirit of joy while out and about.  It just seems like Christ and His birthday are receding as the reason for Christmas.  Everywhere you turn, there are sales, sales, sales. You need to buy more, give more, get more.  I almost feel like I need to take a shower to rinse the dirt of the world off of me when I return home from a trip to the stores around town. It is the Christmas music that brings it all back into focus for me.  It is the song of  the nativity,  the song of the angel on top of the tree, the song of the star that shines,  that reminds me that it's not about what the world says.

My most favorite word this time of year has to be Hallelujah.  How appropriate that my dear friend Sarah Kelly has a song called Living Hallelujah.  It is a simple, heartfelt statement of what Christmas really is.  A time of declaring Hallelujah for the greatest gift of all, Christ Jesus.

I am blessed to call this woman friend. She has such a heart for praise and worship.  Her love of the Lord is evident in every fiber of her being.  I hope that you will take a moment to buy the new Christmas EP that she has released. It is available from Itunes or Amazon.  If you can't download it, it will be available in CD form this weekend.  In a sea of Christmas music, this will definitely stand out.  http://www.sarahkelly.com/xmas.php

Dearest Father, Our Adonai, we come before you in humble adoration.  Let our heart and minds be filled with Your word.  Let us sing Hallelujah in every moment of the day, whether out loud or in our hearts.  Thank You for the magic that is Christmas.  Bring to us the needs of those around us.  Let Your love shine through us.  We are ever grateful for those gifted people whose beautiful music reminds us daily of Your love for us.  Let us all be a part of the celebration of Christmas in a way that shows the world what the Gift was all about.  In Christ  Name we pray, Amen
